Where The Immortals of Meluha left off, the narrative picks off. The mythical protector of Meluha, Shiva, hurries to safeguard his wife Sati from Naga, who is thought to have killed Shiva’s buddy Brahaspati. The Naga runs away and drops a coin with unusual carvings. They learn that the currency belonged to Monarch Chandraketu, the king of the country of Branga in eastern India, after consulting Sati’s father Daksha, and Dilipa, the ruler of Ayodhya. To learn more about the Nagas, Shiva, and Sati’s journey to Kashi, where a group of Brangas lives. Shiva’s general Parvateshwar, his allies Nandi and Veerbhadra, the doctor Ayurvati, and Bhagirath and Anandamayi, the princess and prince of Ayodhya, travel with them.
Parvateshwar suffers a fatal injury in Kashi while attempting to quell a disturbance in the Branga neighborhood. The Branga chief Divodas gives Bhagirath medication to administer to Parvateshwar. Parvateshwar recovers thanks to the medication, but Shiva learns through Ayurvati that it has ingredients that are only found in Panchavati, the Nagas’ capital. He contacts Divodas and learns that Branga is plagued, which has caused them to join forces with the Nagas in exchange for advantages. Shiva resolves to go to Branga, but Divodas warns him that it would take around six months to get there since special ships would need to be built.
Sati gets pregnant with Kartik while the ships are getting ready. Sati stays behind in Kashi to assist the King with a lion assault on the neighborhood residents while the trek to Branga gets underway. A squad of Naga warriors headed by a woman and a man show up just as Sati and her men are about to lose the battle against the lions and help them slay the lions.
The Naga woman explains that she is Kali, Sati’s identical twin. As she was born with malformations, including two additional, functional hands, their father Daksha condemned her. Ganesh, who Sati thought had passed away after childbirth, emerges as the man. Ganesh was Sati’s first kid. Daksha criticized Ganesh and told Sati lies since he was born with birth defects that caused his face to resemble an elephant’s. Sati returns Kali and Ganesh to Kashi, where they both sit and wait for Shiva.
At Branga, Shiva discovers that the one person who knows the medicine’s formula is a robber named Parashuram. Parashuram lives alone in the forests and murders every guy who approaches his home. To Shiva and his warriors defeat Parashuram his amazement, he learns that one of the groups of academics who has been directing him on his voyage is a Vasudev. In shock, Parashuram cuts off his left hand after realizing that Shiva is the legendary Neelkanth. He shares the medicine’s recipe with the residents of Branga before traveling to Kashi with Shiva. Sati introduces Ganesh and Kali to Shiva at Kashi.
Shiva sees Ganesh as the Brahaspati slayer and the Naga who attempted to assault Sati. He leaves Sati in a fit of rage and moves into the Branga neighborhood. Three lions attack Ganesh as he plays with Kartik one day at a neighborhood park, gravely injuring him in the process. Shiva pardons him and, along with Sati, confronts Daksha, who admits to killing Sati’s first spouse and accuses Kali and Ganesh of being responsible. Sati, who is appalled by Daksha’s actions, requests that he leave Kashi and return to Meluha, and Daksha accuses Shiva of fostering mistrust between them.
Shiva decides to journey to Panchavati with the help of Kali, the Naga queen, who is familiar with the route through Dandak Forest to reach Naga city. As they go, a fleet of ships carrying the Daivi Astra nuclear weapons, originally outlawed by Lord Rudra, the mythical supreme monarch of India, attack them from the riverside. Shiva and Sati believe Daksha is responsible after escaping the onslaught and arriving in safety at Panchavati. In the capital, Kali brings Shiva to a school nearby where she thinks the greatest Naga secret is hidden. Shiva discovers Brahaspati there, conducting a lesson and completely alive.
